This is the real deal. Explore the best ways to create imagery for relief printmaking and execute them in class starting with a practice piece of linoleum. The techniques you learn in practice will then be put to the test when you cut your own final linoleum plate. During the second meeting, the focus will be on pulling prints on a professional quality printing press. Learn how to make hand-rubbed prints that can be produced in your studio without a press. High quality materials, tools and instruction.

From Abstract Expressionism to DaDa, we'll explore it all! Tap into your subconscious mind, then use your conscious mind to bring it all together. In this class, you will use your whole brain! Composition and design theory will be discussed as important visual tools to abstract art. And, of course, you will draw while exploring different drawing mediums and techniques. Basic drawing supplies and paper will be provided. Bring that too... seriously! Explore some non-traditional ways to use various mediums to create awesome abstract imagery! If you have drawing pencils or pastels, please bring them.

Learn the fundamentals and techniques of watercolor painting. Explore wet on wet, dry brush, drop in and softened edges. Paint from a still life. Begin with light pencil sketches and continue to block out a composition using flat washes. Understand the basics of color theory by making a color wheel and blending colors. Eat, Drink, Be Merry and Paint! Enjoy a night out with your friends! It’s all about having fun, being out, eating, drinking and making a painting, too. No special talent or experience required; only a willingness to have a good time. Everyone will have the same painting as inspiration and paint along as artist Nancy Isbell takes you step-by-step to create your masterpiece on a 16″ x 20″ canvas. Your inner creativity is opened up and takes over. You may have never have picked up a paint brush or you may have years of painting experience. It doesn’t matter! One more great thing about this evening is that it’s an in-the-moment, living-in-the-now experience, not a competition. You just might get hooked on painting!

Bring your friends and get ready to be inspired as artist Nancy Isbell guides you step-by-step through painting a masterpiece you may call your own! For the artistic and not so artistic, experience an evening of creative fun with your friends as you paint in a real artist’s studio at Bravo School of Art. Feeling a little bit nervous? Don’t worry. It’s easy and totally stress free. You will be amazed at the artwork you create! Come early to get a choice seat and to mix and mingle. Feel free to bring your favorite growler from Stone Brewing or a bottle of wine. We have a corkscrew.

$45 includes paint, canvas, use of brushes, easels and apron. All art supplies are provided. Chocolates, snacks and sodas will be available for purchase.
Paintin' Parties are open to the public and if you are interested in your own Private Paintin' Party that can be arranged! Select the painting, gather 6 or more friends, pick the date and ask us if we are available.
