PAINTING HEART & SOUL

Cynda Valle

For those who've always wanted to paint, but never thought they could. This is for artists of all media and expertise who seek a stronger connection with their artist's soul, and for those with an artist's block. Putting paint filled brush to paper can be a powerful transformational experience. Turn off your conscious mind and everything you've learned about art making. Give yourself over to an intuitive, unselfconscious kind of painting that will ultimately put you in direct communication with your soul and allow you to tap into your personal power. This way can be a means to process and resolve significant physical, emotional and psychological issues within a safe and non-threatening context. You may well learn things about yourself of which you were not previously aware and in each will be reawakened a child's joy in play with color, form and self-expression. Following this process with others creates a meaningful bond and an inspirational group dynamic that strengthens and encourages each participant. Materials list provided upon registration.

STILL LIFE DRAWING & PAINTING

Nancy Isbell

In this 4-part series, draw and paint assembled inanimate objects such as fruit, vases, toys, flowers, etc. Unlike landscape or portraiture, a still life setup allows us to be more in control of the subject and the light. Sometimes, moving an object just a bit or adjusting the light slightly is all that is needed to make the composition work. Studies in pencil and in paint will be produced on paper.

MONOTYPE PRINTMAKING

Valerie Samuel Henderson

Experiment with making quick and direct one-of- a-kind prints. Use a smooth plate, freely applying and removing printing ink using a variety of tools, including rollers, brushes, sticks, cotton swabs and fingers. Paper is placed on top of the plate and the image is transferred by applying pressure with a spoon, roller or a press. This way of working affords great freedom and spontaneity and can be both expressive and forgiving. All paints and inks are water-based. Papers include newsprint, printmaking paper, and oriental papers.
