BASIC SKILLS: USE SIGHTING AND NEGATIVE SPACE TO GET PROPORTIONS RIGHT
Sighting is the age-old technique of comparing what you are looking at to basic proportions and angles. Drawing what you see becomes a series of measurements. Using negative space is measuring the space around an object to be able to draw the object clearly. Through lectures, demonstrations and guided exercises, Anna helps you practice these basic skills to improve your overall drawing ability. Please bring sketchbook, drawing pencils, erasers, black India ink, black ink pen, and small brushes.

Monoprints are created by painting spontaneously on a slick surface like glass, then transferring the wet image to paper by pressing the paper onto the glass. Use acrylic paints with slo-dri suspender, watercolor grade paper and our hands as the press. The "pulled" monotype art can be seen as the finished piece or the basis for a new work by embellishing with more paint, crayons, charcoal, watercolor, stamps, stencils, graphite and other cool tools to turn it into an even more unique, fun and compelling artwork. Explore many different ways to create art on the plate before it is printed onto the paper.
