WEAVE A BEAUTIFUL SCARF
Learn how to warp your own loom to begin the simple, yet satisfying process of weaving. For those without one, we will provide a pre-warped loom for the day. Complete a hand woven scarf in this one-day introduction to weaving. Explore and experiment with up to 15 different patterns, using all kinds of yarn, from plain to very novel!

INTRODUCTION TO KNOTTING
Learn the age-old technique of knotting. This versatile art form can produce both 2-dimensional tapestries as well as 3-dimensional baskets and coiled sculptural pieces. Explore the sculptural form using simple knots. The only tools involved are your hands, a pair of scissors and patience. Your knotted piece will be finished at home.

BEYOND THE 1/2 HITCH
Take your knotting to a new level. This class will introduce you to vertical & horizontal knotting to the left and the right. Learn to form letters and work on surface design with hills and valleys. You will be introduced to an easier way to add new knotters, and will also learn to turn knotters into new cores. Circular starts will be reviewed and how to begin a rectangular piece will be demonstrated.

TAPESTRY WEAVING 3 weeks
Learn the basics of traditional tapestry as you explore a variety of joining techniques and the possibilities of making images with yarn. Tapestry is a weft-faced weaving and you will learn exactly what that means. Practice on a frame loom which is yours to keep. Please bring a dinner fork, a hammer and scissors.

Learn essential millinery techniques by cutting and sewing a 6-piece pattern to create your own custom cap in winter fabrics such as wools and tweeds. FELT MAKING
Make a felt square for use as a pillow top, seat cushion or wall hanging. You will “paint” with wool roving using colored wool and your own muscle power. This workshop requires standing and some physical exertion. All levels of creative ability are welcome.
