CHILDREN & TEENS
Workshops and classes in art for children are taught by instructors experienced in working with children of all age levels. Some instructors are mult-subject and art specialists with California teaching credentials. All are experienced artists. The class sizes are meant to be small, usually less than 10 students. We place great emphasis on positive feedback and individual creativity while gently guiding students in basic skills. The focus is on the experience, the process and skill building during the steps in making art. The finished product is not the only goal, it is a step along the way in a quest for learning. It is our hope that students will enjoy their experience and be motivated to pursue their own interests.
WORKS OF ART 4 weeks Ages 3 - 6
In this 4-week series, your child will explore freedom of expression through drawing, painting, collage and illustration. The fundamentals of art will be introduced: line, light, color, value, hue, texture, composition, space, and design. Each class will be accompanied by classical music and a lesson in art appreciation where great works of art will be discussed. Student artists will bring their box of art supplies to create in a free-spirited environment. Upon registration, you will be given a list of art supplies for your budding artist for use in the classroom and at home.

ART A-GO-GO 4 Weeks Ages 6 - 11
Get your child’s talent and imagination going in this 4-week series of after-school art classes with mixed media artist and metal smith, Sharon K. Novak. Projects may include a copper mask, copper embossing, “recycled” collage or assemblage, batik, printmaking, still life drawing, painting, and self portrait to name a few. Students are encouraged to express their “artistic vision” while learning new techniques. Sessions may be repeated as new projects are offered. Art materials are provided.

PROJECT ART 4 weeks Ages 6 - 11
This 4-week series of art classes is designed to encourage your child’s creative side. Each week students will start and finish a different project designed to explore imagination and/or observation. Students will develop basic drawing skills and learn about color using markers, color pencils and watercolor.

ART LAB 3 weeks Ages 6 - 11
This fun after-school series of art classes, led by artist and scenic designer Robin Roberts, may include: fresco painting, recycled art, drawing, printmaking, self-portrait collages and a few surprises. Students will be encouraged to discover their creativity in a nurturing environment and may repeat sessions with new projects available.

PAINT YOUR SNEAKERS Ages 8 & up
Bring a pair of clean canvas shoes and express yourself by decorating them with acrylic paint. Sneakers provide a great surface to cover with color, pattern, words and images. Transform your feet into an art gallery.

THREE SUMMER ART CAMPS FOR KIDS:
MASTERS OF ART Ages 8 - 15
Each day students will learn about the works and life of one or more famous artist. Based on the artist’s particular style or era, and their contribution to the world of art, campers will create an art project. A variety of media will be used, such as watercolor, color pencils, markers and more.

ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE! Ages 7 - 12
Join scenic designer Robin Roberts for this fun filled week of creativity and imagination with an emphasis on theatrical art. Boys and girls will design scenery and costumes, learn to paint a back-drop, make props, and explore what goes on BEHIND the scenes of a theatrical production. A classic fairy tale will serve as our “play”. Projects will involve drawing, painting and making 3-D sculptures. Don't be a Drama Queen, sign up for camp and become a dramatic artist!

On each creative day, students will explore a different medium. Paint, Draw, Illustrate, Collage and Photograph in the studio and outdoors in Liberty Station. Your child will be encouraged to be free with their artistic expression and be inspired by classical music and masters of art. Materials list provided upon registration.
