MARY-ANN COURTENAYE is the daughter of a career U.S. diplomat, and developed a zest for arts and color at an early age. Living in Japan, Morocco, Mexico, Canada, and Spain created a deep appreciation for fine craftsmanship. When she discovered the delights of incorporating exotic beads with sophisticated wire-wrapping jewelry techniques, "it was gasoline for my creative spark!". After many years of crafting jewelry for special gifts, Mary-Ann now enjoys teaching jewelry-making techniques. Her designs reflect her reverence for fine craftsmanship ("such a wonderful antidote to our overly accelerated and computerized society"). Her work is distinguished by playful yet thoughtful color choices, incorporation of kinetic elements to create movement, and an overall design sensibility aimed at "feeding the eyes and the spirit."
